The Crying Cookie

I’ve mentioned in the past that Kenji’s behavior will sometimes shift on dime.  I don’t know why these changes occur or what causes new routines to be formed, but there’s no doubt that owning a Shiba Inu is an interesting experience.

The latest antic that has left me laughing (and perplexed) is the “Crying Cookie.”  Anytime I give Kenji a doggie cookie (the size of an Oreo) he puts it in his mouth and walks way.  Several seconds later he’ll return to me - with the cookie still in his mouth - and start to cry. He’ll move the cookie to different locations, periodically crying as he carries it.

At first we thought something was wrong with his teeth.  But when he eats his food, or gnaws on my hand, all those pearly whites seem to be OK.

I then considered that maybe he didn’t like the cookie.  But when I break it up into little pieces, he eats it without any issue.

Any idea what the ‘cookie crying’ is about?
